Scottish Snowdrop Festival

THIS year sees the launch of Scotland's first ever snowdrop festival, with 60 venues across the country to visit.

Why not make Valleyfield Wood, Shiresmill, your first port of call where you will find a dazzling display of snowdrops, along with other items of interest, such as remnants of an 'improved' landscape designed by Humphry Repton, the acclaimed landscape designer.

There is a convenient car park at Shiresmill, beside the Riding for the Disabled Association facility, with easy access into the wood.

Paths range from formal to informal, with some accessible by wheelchair.

At the car park you will find details of where to walk to find the best snowdrop displays.

However if you would prefer a conducted tour, then be there at 2 pm any weekend from 10th February until 11th March, when a member of West Fife Woodlands will be present to show you around.

There is no charge to enter the wood, which is the property of Fife Council. However you may wish to make a contribution to the RDA, who are making their toilet facility available to the public for the duration of the festival.

It is suggested that you time your visit to between 10 am and 4 pm in order to view the snowdrops in the best light.
