The West Fife Villages Exhibition
of Art, Photography and Crafts


Notes of the meeting held at the Saline Community Centre on Tuesday 27th April 2010

Those in attendance:- Austen Clark, Gareth Turner, Marylla Ferguson, Ada Cooper, Jim Hensman, Irene Wardell, Derek Fudge, Isabel Menzies, Andy Young, Joan Featherstone, Fiona Aitken, Marie and John Crane.

Apologies for absence: - Muriel Phillips , Liz Harvey, Susan Stephen, Margaret & Dennis McIntosh.

1. Gareth chaired the meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting held on 30th March, were accepted.

2. Publicity. John reported that the press coverage of the exhibition had been reasonable and that the internet coverage had been excellent.

Flyers that gave the times of the craft demonstrations in the church hall were passed out for distribution around the village.

Blank Invitational postcards were distributed.

3. Photo shoot. The Dunfermline Press will be coming to the church hall on Monday to photograph some of our artists with their paintings.

4. Crafts. The pre visit to the church hall by representatives of “Daft for Crafts” and “Cone 8 Potters” was discussed and agreed.

5. Grants. Neither John nor Gareth had yet finalized applications for grants as agreed at the previous meeting. Both applications will be submitted though any grants awarded will not be received prior to the exhibition.

6. Library Display Cabinet. John and Gareth will arrange display on Saturday morning, 1st May.

7. Additional Banner. Marylla said the cost agreed was £45, less than the previous banner that cost £60. Marylla will arrange collection. It was agreed that banner should be displayed on railings outside the church hall.

8. Verge Side Boards John to prepare 5 sets of verge side boards. Jim and John to plant boards on Sunday morning, 2nd May.

9. Opening of the Exhibition. A call was made for a volunteer to introduce James
Douglas. As a volunteer was not forthcoming, John agreed to do this. It was agreed
That we should ask Liz Harvey if her daughter, Heather, would make the presentation
To Mr. Douglas.

10. School Liaison. Jim informed the meeting that he and Donald would shortly be revisiting the ten primary schools to arrange collection of exhibits.

11. Certificates of Merit. Derek handed in printed “Certificates of Merit” for all the ten primary schools. Jim to provide John with the number of certificates required for each school who will inform Derek of any additional certificates required ASAP.

12. Labour Requirements.

Wednesday 5th May. Men required from 7 pm in order to load trailer at garage, unload at the Centre and erect the boards as far as possible in the small hall. John to arrange.

Friday 7th May. A few men required from 10 am to finalize the display boards. Ladies required from 2 pm, to display children’s exhibits.

Marylla and Austen agreed to “hang.”

John circulated a roster form for duties over the exhibition period.

4.30 PM Sunday 9th May. Men required to take down display boards, load trailer and return boards to garage.

13. An Exhibition Wash-up meeting will be held at 7 pm on 25th May in the Community Centre.
