Consultation on Draft Dunfermline
and West Fife Local Plan

Fife Council is about to start public consultation on the Draft Dunfermline and West Fife Local Plan.

The consultation period runs over 8 weeks between 22nd February and 19th April and drop-in events will be held with officers available in Kincardine Community Centre (15th March), (Dunfermline City Chambers (17th March) and Inverkeithing Civic Centre (18th March) between 2pm and 8pm.

The local plan can be viewed at www.fifedirect.org.uk/westfifelocalplan or at Development Services offices and Local Service Centres/Libraries in the local plan area. The Plan can be purchased as a hard copy for £50 or on CD for £5.

The preferred method of making comment is online through the electronic consultation portal. Written representations will also be accepted but will take longer to process.

Written representations should be made using the form supplied with the Plan and sent to REF DWFLP2 6.2.1, Fife Council, Town House, 2 Wemyssfield. Kirkcaldy KJY1 1XW

Saline Community Council has expressed concerns about the restricted choice of venues.

According to Jim Hensman, chair of the community council, “This is a vitally important document that people should take the opportunity to inspect and comment on.

"It is therefore disappointing that Fife Council still does not understand that people in the inland villages in West Fife have no public transport link to Kincardine.

"Even if a service was available, fares are expensive for young people and most do not allow for disabilities.

"We have therefore written to Development Services asking for the displays to be put on show in the village, even if officers cannot attend. The recent consultation by Saline Environmental Group was very productive and demonstrated that people are interested in what is happening.”
