Take care at ATMs

Following an incident in which police recovered two skimming devices on the ATM at Scotmid, 94 Main Street, Cairneyhill, the force have given advice to make locals aware of the dangers posed by such devices.

Two devices were placed over the ATM, one covering the PIN keyboard which has a small camera device and another device which obtains card details via the card reader.

The persons responsible are then believed to be able to make clone cards using the information and then make withdrawals from the respective bank accounts.

The quality of the devices were very convincing and police would remind everyone that if they have any concerns at all about any device on an ATM, not to use it or try and remove any device but to contact the ATM operator and police.
