West Fife Villages booklet launched

A new free guide to the villages in the West of Fife was launched at Culross Abbey on October 21.

Artist Jim Douglas, who has produced a number of paintings on local miners and regularly gives talks on mining life, launched the 36-page booklet.

The publication, produced for West Fife Villages Community Planning Group, includes articles on the villages, the once thriving mining industry and several features, such as Preston Island, Culross Festival and Valleyfield Woodland Park Snowdrop Festival.

There is also a look at some of the figures who helped put the area on the map.

The various walks, attractions and galas staged in the area are also covered, including the West Fife Villages Exhibition of Art, Photography and Crafts, at which Jim Douglas displays his work.

The booklet will be available from various libraries, tourist information offices and council offices.
